SavemyLight would like to advise all customers that purchasing light fittings in the closing down sale from the defunct BHS is extremely risky.
As well as having issues these light fittings will not be guaranteed.
SaveMyLight have seen a surge in customers desperately trying to repair light fittings purchased from BHS.
We are finding customers are purchasing incomplete light fittings with the wrong type of bulbs thrown in to get the light fitting to work. Upon switching the light on the light will not work and this is also causing damage to the electronic transformer contained within the light rendering the light fitting useless.
Some bulbs are LED when they should be halogen or the bulbs power rating is far too high when combined with all the other bulbs to work with the transformer.
For example: a light fitting with a 105va transformer with 10 bulbs should be 10w per bulb, but is supplied with 20w bulbs ie doubling the power which the transformer cannot cope with.
SaveMyLight has also even been offered pallets of BHS redundant light fittings from the receivers at ridiculous prices which we have obviously refused.
Although these deals look wonderful many light fittings have issues, which is why they are being sold at bargain basement prices.
If it looks too good to be true then it probably is!!!!!
Should a transformer be purchased for a BHS light fitting, which subsequently comes back to us as damaged the manufacturers will NOT honour the guarantee.
Our advice if thinking of purchasing a BHS light fitting is to take an electrician with you.
The repair may end up costing more than the retail value of the light fitting to start with!!
SaveMyLight hope that all staff who have lost their jobs find employment as quickly as possible.
