As the nights draw in more and more customers are keeping their light fittings on for longer.
Some customers are keeping their light/s on all night, which is not recommended.
We are seeing halogen transformers being returned to us with clear signs of overloading.
Some customers are changing their halogen bulbs to a higher wattage and exceeding the maximum rating of the transformer but not changing the transformer or wiring to cope with the extra load.
Customers are also replacing their halogen bulbs to LED bulbs, but halogen transformers are not LED compatible.
This is causing severe damage to the transformer as the temperature increases. The images below show overloading on the 12v side.
This damage is NOT a manufacturing defect as the damage is not caused by a fault with the transformer.
Overloading a halogen transformer can be a fire hazard.
If a customer has replaced their halogen bulbs to a higher wattage or to LED bulbs do not attempt to use the transformer.
Units returned with the above damage will not be replaced under the guarantee as the damage is not a manufacturing defect.
