SaveMyLight was hoping to have eradicated Return Fraud with our new security measures however it has reared its ugly head again in a different form.
We are sad to report that we have today received a return from an anonymous ‘customer’ which upon opening contained nothing but a ripped piece of blank white paper placed inside an envelope that was sent by tracked delivery.
There was no product and no written paperwork inside to identify who the goods belonged to or where they came from.
The purpose of doing this is to imply goods have been returned successfully to the retailer by obtaining confirmation of delivery.
The customer then approaches the retailer to claim the goods have been returned when in reality the retailer has received nothing.
This then leaves the retailer open to a Fraudulent Chargeback.
This method of return is blatant FRAUD and SaveMyLight will file a report with the Police, Actionfraud UK and if necessary pursue the customer when identified through the small claims court.
We absolutely condemn this type of behaviour. Not only is it theft of the goods but is also fraud and it affects our business through loss of income.
SaveMyLight will always defend this type of fraud through the use of CCTV and statements from staff and delivery agents.
This used to be a common scam over previous years which we have not seen for a long time but are determined to stamp this out again.
