As many customers will have heard Royal Mail staff are striking over pay and conditions which is having a knock on affect on postal deliveries in the UK and with International shipping.
We are receiving hundreds of emails and telephone calls from customers asking to know where their goods are and when they will be delivered.
At the moment Royal Mail is not guaranteeing delivery service times to any destination using any delivery method.
There are huge delays at Royal Mail hubs and depots with letters and parcels sitting in cages waiting to be sorted and forwarded to their relevant destinations.
This problem is made even worse when further strikes scheduled begin.
Customers still wrongly believe that by selecting 1st Class Recorded Delivery will result in goods being delivered the next day! – this is incorrect and a thing of the past.
Royal Mail collects our goods and takes them to our nearest post office which is where the first scan takes place.
The next scan takes place at the Royal Mail hub when onward delivery begins.
Customers are checking tracking numbers believing their goods are sitting lost at the Post Office – this is an incorrect assumption. Goods are collected by Royal Mail but left in cages awaiting sorting at the depot.
Customers are also contacting us to request we telephone Royal Mail to ascertain when their goods will be delivered.
The answer to this is that we cannot get through by telephone and furthermore Royal Mail does not know when the goods will be delivered.
SaveMyLight ships goods the same day (if ordered before the cut off time) or the next working day if ordered on a weekend or Bank Holiday.
We advise customers to specify Royal Mail Special Delivery as this will give the customer a fighting chance that goods will be delivered quicker than Recorded Delivery. However there is no guarantee the goods will arrive the next day as Royal Mail are not guaranteeing delivery service times.
SaveMyLight does NOT agree with this strike action as it is crippling the UK economy and causing major problems for businesses that use Royal Mail for the delivery of their goods.
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS
Many international customers are not collecting their goods and instead leaving the goods at the relevant postal delivery company, failing to organise a redelivery if they are out or refusing to pay the Customs Duty.
One customer in Germany left his goods unclaimed for 41 days which was then returned to us where we were charged a redelivery fee!!
Delivery companies are allowing the customer 15 – 17 days to collect their goods, arrange a redelivery or pay any Customs Duty due.
Should an international customer fail to collect their goods, arrange a redelivery or refuse to pay the legally due Customs Duty the goods will be automatically returned to SaveMyLight by the relevant postal company.
Should it be the case that goods are returned to us we will be billed the return postage fee which will be deducted from any refund due.
International customers are reminded that SaveMyLight is a UK based company and the UK is a non-EU country as such Customs Duty will be charged on all imports to all countries.
