Hello Steve
Emailing to say thank you for the advice you gave us to help fix our light fitting. Our local electrician didn’t have a clue nor seem to know how to test the transformer we had correctly. He just said it must be faulty. Goes to show that paying for an electricians help doesnt mean you will get the help you actually need. You know your stuff so thank you.

RESPONSE
Hello Alan,
As we see time and time again an electrician will always blame the product as it is the easiest thing to do not to mention taking your money just to inform you the product is faulty.
We find many electricians simply do not understand how to test a low voltage transformer correctly.
The presumption is always to place a test meter on the output expecting to see 12v. This is a common electrician’s mistake. An incorrect reading will always be shown which then leads an electrician to believe a product is faulty.
Trying to explain this normally leads to comments such as ‘i’ve been an electrician for 40 years etc I know what I am doing’. Some electricians heed our advice yet some do not.
